'Form of construction has bearing upon mental and physical health'

The form of a construction has a bearing upon both mental and physical health of the occupant, " said Mr Sanjay Mahashabde, noted 'Vastushastri' while speaking on 'Vastushastra' at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Nagpur at the Bishop Convent School here on Thursday. Starting his lecture by saying, 'Vastushastra' was one of the most misunderstood subjects as it was not practiced by the other people who had no basic knowledge of architecture, Mr. Mahashabde went on to give details of the scientific background of the subject. Mr. Mahashabde said that around the year 1902-03, Dr. Victro Hyss, an Austrian scientist working in Egypt. was conducting some experiments that involved floating of balloons with some instruments in them in the vicinity of the famous pyramids. Dr. Hyss noted that whenever the balloons passed over the pyramids, the instruments recorded certain readings indicating that the area was giving out certain radiations. Several scientists tried to search the source of the radiations in and around the pyramids but without any success. Finally, the scientists concluded that it was the pyramid itself that was giving out the radiations. Mr. Mahashabde said that every form, including the human form, had an energy field around it and continued to give out certain radiations. He said that the tuning of the energy field of the occupants and the energy field of the construction was the basis of 'Vastushastra'. He gave a practical example of two simple pendulums of same length suspended on a rigid frame. He showed that when force was applied on one of the pendulums, the other also gained motion. In this way he explained that the energy field affects the things. Giving the examples of the marvels of architecture in the old days, Mr. Mahashabde said that the 'Diwas-E-Aam' (auditorium) of the Raigad fort was one such where the king could communicate with six thousand public and vice-versa, apparently without the use of any public address system, while the members of the royal family sitting around the 'chhatri' of the king could not do so. he also said that at a temple of Balaji in Washim, sunrays fell on the idol of the Lord from December 22 to June 21 every year for an hour in the morning. He explained that this was possible due to one window constructed in a particular angle in the 'gumbaj' in front of the main temple building.
